Minnesota Cannabis College Joins Minnesota Cannabis Week 2026
Every so often, a story comes along that captures exactly what a community is trying to build. This week, that story ran in GreenState's coverage of Minnesota Cannabis Week 2026, and we want to start with a simple, sincere thank you — to GreenState and to editor Rachelle Gordon — for naming Minnesota Cannabis College among the partner organizations helping bring the week to life.
Being included alongside groups we admire is an honor, and it's also a signal: Minnesota's cannabis industry is growing up, and it's growing up together. From August 21–27, businesses, nonprofits, educators, and advocates from across the state will gather for a week of networking, learning, and collaboration. Here's what the week holds, where you'll find us, and how the momentum carries straight into Give 8/28, our biggest giving day of the year.
What Is Minnesota Cannabis Week 2026?
Minnesota Cannabis Week 2026 is a first-of-its-kind, statewide series of business-to-business events focused on networking, education, and industry development. As GreenState reports, the initiative was developed through a partnership between the Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA), Elevate Minnesota, and Hey Mango, with a roster of partner organizations that includes Minorities for Medical Marijuana, the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association, the Minnesota Women's Cannabis Collective, SotaCann, Frontline Bud Foundation — and Minnesota Cannabis College.
MCBA chairman Mike Lomuto told GreenState that the events share a common purpose: helping this community thrive for the long haul, with connections and opportunities designed to outlast the week itself. That framing resonates deeply with us. Minnesota's adult-use market has developed slowly, and in a young industry, relationships are infrastructure. The people you meet at a workshop in August may become your employer, your mentor, your business partner, or your first hire by winter.

The Week at a Glance: August 21–27
Minnesota Cannabis Week is anchored by three marquee gatherings, each with its own personality.
Elevated Escape (August 21–23, Taylors Falls)
Elevated Escape opens the week with a community camping experience along the St. Croix River. Organizers describe it as an inclusive weekend of music, workshops, networking, and campfires — a reminder that industry-building can be genuinely fun, and that some of the best professional connections start with a shared s'more.
Green Equity Conference (August 24–26, Minneapolis)
The third annual Green Equity conference, the MCBA's flagship event, returns to the NorthPoint Conference Center in Minneapolis. This is a conference built for participation rather than observation: mentor exchanges, peer mastermind sessions, structured networking labs, and interactive roundtables that put entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and community leaders in real conversation with one another — including lessons carried in from more mature markets around the country. After the conference wraps on August 26, the CannaClub Industry Night at Earl Giles keeps the conversations going.
MN Marketplace (August 27, Minneapolis)
The week culminates with the inaugural MN Marketplace, presented by Hey Mango at Earl Giles. This curated, daylong showcase connects cannabis operators with the ancillary service providers who help them succeed — a format Hey Mango launched in Maryland and recently brought to the Midwest.

Why Collaboration Matters for Cannabis Education in Minnesota
Minnesota Cannabis College exists because legalization alone doesn't create opportunity — education does. We're a Saint Paul-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit built on a simple idea: the communities most affected by cannabis prohibition deserve real pathways into the legal industry that's now taking shape. We call it education as repair.
That's why our workforce training programs are tuition-free to enrollees. Our retail track prepares students for dispensary and customer-facing roles, and our cultivation track builds hands-on growing skills — practical, employer-relevant cannabis education in Minnesota, at no cost to the student, made possible by grant funding and community support. Education is only half of the equation, though. Graduates need somewhere to go, and employers need trained people to hire. That's why we run a free Minnesota cannabis job board connecting employers and job seekers statewide — and it's why a week like this one matters so much. Every handshake at Green Equity, every conversation at the MN Marketplace, every campfire chat at Elevated Escape strengthens the web of relationships that turns training into careers.
Our work in this space isn't new. As MPR News reported, we've been preparing Minnesotans to enter the legal market since before the state's first adult-use rules took shape, and we've grown alongside the industry as the Office of Cannabis Management has stood up Minnesota's regulatory framework. Cannabis Week feels like a milestone on that same road: the moment a scattered set of businesses and advocates starts to feel like an industry — and a community.
How to Make the Most of Minnesota Cannabis Week
Whether you're a job seeker eyeing your first role in the industry, an entrepreneur preparing to launch, or an established operator looking for partners, a week this dense with programming rewards a little planning. A few suggestions from our team:
Pick your lane, then leave room for serendipity. You don't have to attend everything. Choose the one or two events that best match your goals — Elevated Escape if you want relaxed, relationship-first connection; Green Equity if you want structured programming with policymakers and investors in the room; MN Marketplace if you're an operator looking for the services that will help you scale. Then leave a little unscheduled time, because the conversation that changes your year is rarely the one on your calendar.
Come with a specific ask. "I'm looking for my first cultivation role," "I need a compliance-savvy accountant," or "I want three retail mentors" will get you further than a stack of business cards. If your ask involves hiring or getting hired, bookmark our free cannabis job board before you go, and mention it to anyone who's building a team.
Follow up within the week. The organizers designed these events to create relationships that outlast the closing reception. Honor that intent: send the email, make the introduction, book the coffee. And if cannabis education came up in your conversations, point people to our free classes — sharing that link might be the most valuable follow-up of all.
From Cannabis Week to Give 8/28: Bring the Energy Home
Minnesota Cannabis Week ends on August 27. The very next day, we're asking you to bring its energy home.
Give 8/28 is a National Day of Giving held every August 28 during Black Philanthropy Month, and it's Minnesota Cannabis College's biggest giving day of the year. This year, the timing could not be more fitting: one day after a week devoted to growing Minnesota cannabis through collaboration, our community has the chance to invest directly in the education that makes that growth equitable.
